Biography

You may be asking yourself, who is Erin? Why is anything she says worth listening to? Well, let me introduce myself. I was born Erin Marie Altieri in the wonderful city of Stamford, Conn. on March 12th, 1995. That makes me a college sophomore, and not just a sophomore anywhere, a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin. Also known as the best university in the U.S. (but I am not bias, or anything).
I do not have any famous connections, a deal with Cosmopolitan, a million subscribers on YouTube, or even any professional licenses. What I do have are my life interests and lessons that I believe have value. These lessons have been taught through my work and life experiences. In high school I was involved in a magnitude of activities. I spent four interesting years as a part of Stamford High School's Strawberry Hill Players Drama Club, working as both a lead actress and club secretary. When I was not being theatrical on stage, I was creating and writing pages for our yearbook as editor. Beyond that I helped plan activities and raised money for my class as class treasurer, and was a part of many volunteer clubs that helped clean up Stamford.
As an out-of-state student at UT, I  have worked to gain my instate tuition by working 20+ hours a week. Working in the food industry as both a shift manager, hostess, waitress, and now trainer I have gained valuable skills that can be used in journalism. Just as journalists communicate with people, I work one on one with guests at my restaurant everyday. Whether it be getting to know their preferences or problem solving with them, communication is always the key to success. Although work and school take up a huge portion of my life I have found time to take part in HerCampus, a national online college girl magazine. HerCampus incorporates all of my interests by giving me the ability to write about topics that not only I relate to but college girls all over do. Below is a link to my HerCampus profile that includes all of my written articles!
The ultimate goal is to pursue a career in broadcast journalism and work with NBC News in New York City. Between then and now I plan on really taking advantage of my final two years at the University of Texas. I want to obtain as much experience and knowledge that I possibly can, as well as explore Austin even more. If the next two years are anything like this past year in Texas, I have nothing but great things to look forward to!
